Fixing some little site stuff

Standard

Media Queries are still new to me!

But I am getting a handle on them. I spent some time and figured out why some of the site features weren’t behaving like I wanted on the smaller screens. Mostly attributed to some bad typing on my part.

New Features

The new snow feature on the main page is now acting like it is supposed to. And as a sidebar I have been tinkering with a newsletter feature. I signed up for Mailchimp rather than try to do it by my lonesome. It should be up this week some time. Still working on the newsletter itself.

Some other tweaking was done and at this time it appears to be OK. If you see something amiss let me know. I may have missed something on the smaller screens [ handhelds ] especially.

That’s it for now! Take a look at the new site layout when you get a chance! Thanx!

New Year – New Code!

Standard

madeindetroit600

I don’t have a code! The sites do!

BzeroB.com and Bob’s Library are updated!

A leaner meaner set of code to get the job done. Like I don’t have better things to do?

As a matter of fact I didn’t! A by-product of some extended time off following some medical issues allowed me to spendi my down time diligently finalizing the new set of streamlined code for BzeroB.com and Bob’s Library websites. It is the end result of a code migration from some core code I have used for a while now, Twitter Bootstrap and the integrated jQuery, that got the job done but was way bulky on the web. Easy and pretty but with a data price. Data usage is everything to small devices! Fast is good!

And don’t believe that you have an “unlimited” data plan! Trust me, they are gonna gig you for something! But not because of me!

And for me the old code system was way over-kill. And after making some guided decisions on what I do or do not need this is the end result. And an added plus was being able to avoid major javascript embeds thanks to the progression of CSS3 capabilities. So to that end I did a bit of tweaking and massaging to get it pared down to a quick and functional size and still get the point across. This is a learning game for me. And it really doesn’t do badly on small phones.  I guess I have learned a bit along the way.

I know! I know! It’s just a bunch of techno-babble coming from an old man taking meds!

But the point is I got it up and running . And if you want feel free to take  a gander at the new site layouts and see what you think.

Thanks to all my friends and relatives for a great year and have a safe and prosperous New Year!

Another batch of updates

Standard

I just uploaded the latest batch of site updates

Lots of new stuff! New look for a bunch of pages and a handful more getting ready for prime time.

  • I have cleaned up the INDEX page with a carousel of the blogs
  • I have added a new look and a couple of new pages of events to the GARAGE
  • The EVENT pages are now vertical timelines and responsive thanks to Bootstrap
  • I am using some new fonts that I kinda like. Many of the GARAGE pages have the new fonts on board. Basically Remarkle.

If you get a chance feel free to browse on through the new updated site and see what you think. Not a biggie but let me know what you think

Another website evolution!

BzeroB.com gets another facelift

BzeroB.com gets another facelift

Simple and quick. Stripped to the bones for now.

Because it is really a portal of sorts that makes it easier to get to the nifty neato stuff on the other sites, Bob’s Garage and Bob’s Library. I still have some small CSS flaws but I am working on them. I may flesh it out in the near future but for now this is the new face. I have been staying away from the things that spin and hover in order to make it fast and consistent. I may play with some new stuff but, as I said, this is it for now.

Bob’s Garage is the next target. It could be prettier so I will try to give it a nicer look.

Stay Tuned!

The NEW BzeroB.com is done!

Standard

It’s ready for prime time!

The new BzeroB.com portal section is coded and cleaned up for production. I know that it doesn’t mean a whole bunch to most of you but it is a learning triumph. And it is a giant leap in learning  for me and Bootstrap3 with jQuery. And I am getting the hang of it.  I am actually liking it.

It has been up for a bit as a test site and well tested on mobile. And it is slick and quick. Since most people use their mobile to access a site the first time the site is tuned for mobile first. So now it is on to the secondary section.

The main core of Bob’s Garage I have most of the code up and tested. And it is quicker too. With some new features. A bit of restructuring and I should be able to bring most of it all up this week. The car and clutter section may be a bit of a challenge but the new features and code should make it  work way nice.

Stay Tuned! I am workin’ on it! This is one of my winter projects. I guess I should get a hobby or something!

Web Updates and Buckethead

Standard

Dreamweaver and Buckethead?

What in the world?

And NO I did not quit taking my meds! I am just sitting here tweedling with the site code for my Bob’s Garage website and listening to some Buckethead.

I already have the new code for the BzeroB.com front end done and up. It is a lot nicer working on smaller devices like tablets and phones. I am not sure exactly when I will put it up live. If you want to take a look you can see a preview of it at BzeroB/Test.

And the Tech Library has undergone a transition too. It is now a WordPress site. It is way easier to search through. I like it a lot better than an imbedded section. Check it out here and see what you think >>>> The Tech Library

Who the heck is Buckethead and why are you listening to him?

Kind of a good question deserves a kinda good answer.  As you may or may not know I do like the guitar masters like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and the like. Well, Buckethead  is in the same category.  And yes, he does wear a wide variety of buckets and yes, he does wear a mask. And, yes, he can rip up a guitar!

Try out this video of a PBS SoundStage session in 08

You may, or may not, like Buckethead but it is some nice working music. They say everyone moves to the beat of a different drummer. Well, this is my “Drummer”! So on with the coding!

Some new website tweaks and cleanup

Standard

Cleanups are a good thing

And throw in a tweak or two and all is good. For now!

I took some time today to rummage through my site BzeroB.com and do some needed code cleanup. And I also got around to fixing some forgotten pages that were way wrong, and I added a couple that I have been meaning to add. And to finish it all off I added some music and video clips to the mix.

If you haven’t visited lately you may want to give it a look see.

The work was done primarily in the GARAGE section. Most of the menuing in the HHR, PT and Clutter sections is now updated and much easier to use . I got the HHR and PT video pages up and running correctly. And for a special treat I added a couple of music clips on the PT Cruiser main page.

I even got around to fixing my Cruise Shirt page in the FIND ME section. I Had neglected it for a while. [ read that as forgot about it! ] So it is better than before but I still have some work to do. Like the rest of the GARAGE section!

My fingers are tired so I am calling it a good day of coding and updating. Time fire a nice shot of Captain Morgan and some TV time with Faye Dean. So long for now.
